How the ‘Girl Next Door’ became a comic speaker and an expert on not-so-funny topics like sexual assault and addiction
Elaine Williams is both a survivor of sexual assault and an expert on the topic. Growing up looking like the girl next door on the outside, she suffered from sexual and emotional abuse and lost herself in bulimia, drugs and alcohol for years. Elaine shares her story to make a difference for others by being the #1 requested sexual assault speaker on college campuses.
She’s been there. And that’s why audiences nationwide love her. She talks their language.
Plus, she’s funny! What better way to get inside the hearts and minds of her listeners, win their respect, and motivate them to make the changes that will keep them safe and smart for their entire educational career, and beyond?
Comedy helps take the sting out of reality but helps us see what’s true
A veteran of musical theater as a child, Elaine started exploring the Comedy circuit as a young adult and found that her words hit home. She won the Outstanding Newcomer Award at the Underground New York Comedy Festival and never looked back. Since then, she has been a guest on Saturday Night Live, All My Children, One Life to Live on TV and has opened for big name comedians like Dane Cook, Darrel Hammond, and Dwayne Kennedy. Film credits include: Michael with John Travolta, the cult hit Waiting for Guffman, and Monday Night Mayhem with John Turturro. Elaine was voted “Most Up and Coming Comic” at the NY Underground Comedy Festival.
Elaine’s message reaches those who struggle with emotional eating when dealing with the many pressures of college life.
Elaine was put on her first diet when she was six years old, and was binging, purging, and abusing laxatives by the time she was twelve. She dove into drugs and alcohol in her teens until she became victim to a sexual assault. Several years later, she had what she calls a spiritual awakening and found the resources in herself to forgive and move on. With the biting honesty of a true comic, Elaine brings powerful tools to help others prevent sexual assault, addiction, and abuse — and to know what to do when it happens.
No turning back: Elaine becomes a Life Coach to really make a difference
Elaine is a certified life coach through the Ford Institute for Integrative Coaching at JFK University. She knows that students want to be involved and respected, not talked down to, so she makes every presentation personal and interactive. As the #1 requested Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention speaker on campuses in the U.S., Elaine speaks at colleges, corporate events, schools and private organizations to help elevate awareness about addictions, sexual assault, and abuse.
“My vision is to remove the stigma and shame about addictions and assault. I am passionate about bringing awareness to these topics, and change the culture of it, like Candy Lightner did with MADD. I want to teach kids that they can overcome anything. Because they can! I’ve got the message and the tools to help them believe it too.”

Audiences LOVE Elaine
Elaine has brought her unique voice of honesty and courage to Saturday Night Live, HBO, ABC, NBC, FOX and is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post. She has been featured in The New York Times and Hay House Radio and writes for countless campus publications and blogs.
Her talks are hard-hitting yet vulnerable; her stories are poignant yet practical. She jam-packs so much useful content in the time allotted so that people are motivated and inspired to transform bad habits.
How do you make a dent in the “It Won’t Happen to Me” syndrome?
Elaine knows from experience the extensive personal costs of food, alcohol, and drug abuse. Because of her background, she can speak the language of her listeners and make more of an impact. Along with her uplifting message, she wields a collection of practical tools that her audience takes with them. She speaks honestly about her life challenges, the perils of a reckless lifestyle and the way to empowerment, awareness and safety. Sometimes even love.
It’s easy to spot the falling-down drunk or the see-through anorexic, but those who struggle in silence can very often be the same people who have unexpected catastrophic meltdowns or are miserable for years and no one knows. Elaine helps bring awareness to this culture of hidden trauma to prevent catastrophes and improve lives.
“I recently told a group of students about how I overcame bulimia. Afterward, three young women approached me and told me they hated their bodies and they had already bought laxatives for later. But once they heard me, they decided against it. This is why I do what I do.”
— Elaine Williams
Let’s teach kids that they can overcome anything. Elaine wants to help change the culture and the conversation, heal the shame and help people reclaim the lives they think they’ve lost. Armed with knowledge, peer support, and campus-wide cultural shifts, horrible incidents caused by the few don’t have to be so damaging to the many. It’s doable.
